HTML5 Tutorial: Lightbox with three variations

There is a new HTML5 tutorial up today on Flashbynight.com.

This tutorial will show you how to create a customisable lightbox pop-up using the Featherlight framework.

The tutorial walks you through three variations:

1 A simple lightbox that opens when you click a button.
2 A lightbox that contains buttons, pictures and text.
3 A lightbox that opens automatically after a time interval and closes automatically after a time interval.

Feel free to use the examples in the tutorial for your own projects and you can also grab the source code without working through the tutes, if that is what you are after.

This tutorial is here:

Algorithm

Here is a game for people who like number and maths puzzle games.

It's simple, just click on the right tiles to complete the formula, but you have to do it within a time limit.

Play the game for fun or to sharpen your number skills.

Rabbip

Here's a new word game on FlashByNight:

Rabbip is a game of chance and skill. You need to guess a seven-letter word, given two of the letters. For each guess, you can click on one of two options. Simple! It's easy to learn, fun and challenging. It gets harder as you complete levels with a shorter timer and harder words.

Rabbip works on smartphones as well as laptops or desktops.

Play it here: http://flashbynight.com/rabbip/

Have Many Rabbits

Have Many Rabbits is a puzzle game for people who like slightly difficult puzzle games. Rubik's Cube type of folks.

The concept is simple: get all of the bunnies in their holes at the same time. It starts off easy but gets harder in the later levels.

You could probably work through all 30 levels in one to two hours.

Today I Learned: Keyboards have bumps on the F and J keys to help touch-typers.

It's amazing the things you never notice.

I've been using computer keyboards for years and I never noticed that the F and J keys have little raised bumps on them.

This is to assist people who touch type - your index fingers should be at rest on these keys.

New Game: TOPPLR

This game may look easy at first, but it can get pretty difficult. Rearrange the stacks of blocks to match similar colors and clear the board - but you only have a limited number of moves.

Some of the later levels may seem impossible, but there's always a way to win if you keep trying.
